What causes heart palpitations after having surgery with general anesthesia.?

Posted by admin on March 17th, 2010 and filed under heart palpitations | 1 Comment »

Two days after surgery I started having heart palpitations which has continued every day (about 2 weeks) since then. These occur multiple times a day and most often feel like my heart is quivering.
Thanks

I haven’t heard of GA causing heart palpitations, although we often see things on the EKG monitor that patients weren’t aware of before surgery.

If it concerns you, see a cardiologist for a workup. It may also help to get a copy of the anesthesia and recovery room records, to see if there were any heart rhythm abnormalities during or after your surgery.

Is there anything natural to help heart palpitations?

Posted by admin on March 15th, 2010 and filed under heart palpitations | 7 Comments »

Sometimes I randomly get heart palpitations and they sometimes won’t stop…Is there anything natural I can take for them? I’ve been to the doctor about them, and am even on a heart monitor. But I’m just worried if I have one and it doesn’t stop. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Hawthorne tincture regulates heartbeat. Strauss Heart Drops seem to be a quite popular alternative medical supplement that contains hawthorne that you can get at the health food store. It’s probably worth a try. Co-enzyme Q10 is used to strengthen the heart muscle (about 100 mg/day).
If you feel your heart beat becoming irregular, take a deep breath and try to cough forcefully. Keep doing this until your heart beat stabilizes.
A Homeopathic doctor might be a better idea for you if you are interested in finding an alternative form of medicine that is non-toxic, has no side-effects and tries to get your whole body back into balance. My mother USED to have high blood pressure and a heart murmur. She no longer has those problems and is extremely happy with her results.
Hope this helps.

Is there anything you can do to stop heart palpitations besides reducing stress?

Posted by admin on March 13th, 2010 and filed under heart palpitations | 1 Comment »

I’ve been to the doctor for my heart palpitations, they’ve had me on the machine, they told me they are harmless. Fine, but they are uncomfortable and irritating. The only cure I ever find is reducing stress… well what if you don’t think you are that stressed and they keep coming back. It’s annoying. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to ease them?

Can red wine cause heart palpitations?

Posted by admin on March 11th, 2010 and filed under heart palpitations | 4 Comments »

I find that after I drink red wine the next day I get kind of like heart palpitations, yet if I drink wine later in the day it goes away. Any thoughts? Oh and I am seeing my doctor on Teusday.

Some red wines are artificially aged and preserved with sulphites. Some people have a real sensitivity to the sulphites and reactions can range from migraine like headaches, fast heart beats, sweating and throat tightness to dizziness.

Ask for sulphite free red wine to see if there is a difference.

I was diagnosed with heart palpitations but I have a numb face sometimes?

Posted by admin on March 9th, 2010 and filed under heart palpitations | 3 Comments »

Im a 21 year old male. Sometimes my lips and the bottom of my neck will become slightly numb for a time. I also have an odd feeling in my head for most of the day. Could this all just be related to the heart palpitations that have been on going?

You could be having a panic attack, are you extremely nervous and anxious before and during these attacks? Tingling fingers, lip, sweaty palms, feeling of something wrong like an impending doom or heart attack. Panic attacks mimic heart attack and have racing heart beat and hyperventilation, buzzing head (high blood pressure) many masks! Or you could have like Bells Palsy, it can come and go and cause paralysis temporarily, don’t self diagnose! Seek a thorough check up.

How does heart palpitations feel like?

Posted by admin on March 7th, 2010 and filed under heart palpitations | 2 Comments »

Does it start out by a slight tap on the chest followed by racing of the heart for about 15 seconds then back to normal? How would you know if you have heart palpitations?

The heart palpitations I have feel like my heart is trying to escape from my chest, it’s beating so hard. I can feel one before it really starts, but not in my heart exactly. Starts like a tightness in the chest and then my heart beats really hard for about 10 seconds, and then it’s over. If they scare you, call your doctor. He may monitor your heart for a period of time to check it out.
